From Tanya Landman, author of the 2015 Carnegie Medal winner Buffalo Soldier, comes a heart-stopping tale of love, corruption and the power of choice. Blood on her lips. Blood on her tongue. Blood that is not her own. Cassia does not fear to die, but for her – for a slave who has maimed her master – there are worse things than death. Yet the mighty Roman Empire has its limits. Beyond her master’s estate, beyond the river, far to the north stands Hadrian’s Wall. And beyond the wall? Freedom. With dogs on her trail and a bounty on her head the journey seems impossible. But then Cassia meets Marcus – slick, slippery, silver-tongued – a true and perfect son of Rome. And her only hope.

I finished reading this book last week but it has stuck in my mind very clearly. Cassia had just maimed her master . Death is not a worry of hers as after doing a deed like that , death is a obvious occurrence. She must seek freedom beyond Hadrians wall , away from the roman empire . The journey is dangerous and tiring . However , when Cassia meets Marcus she decides that he is her only hope . No matter the chance of him double crossing.
this book was unlike any that i had read before and it always kept me on the edge of my chair, i honestly couldn’t put it down! it is perfect of those who are thrill seekers.
This book breathes fear and adventure from the very first page. Cassia had dared what has never been dared before…maiming her master! Cassia is on a thrilling adventure to escape and find her home tribe. Although, there is one person who maybe she shouldn’t trust he may double cross her!
This journey is hard and will not be able to be done without perseverance and strength in your heart.
I would highly recommend this for people who love suspense and horror at every corner.
