  1. This is an amazing book of kids lives getting tangled up into a mess and they have to unravel themselves. This book is full of confusion that makes you read on all the time.

  2. I really enjoyed this book and recommend for others. I find it investing how they all have different types of opinions and personalities like Ruth and Dora are completely different prespectives. Share this book to friends and family

  3. The Smell of Other People’s Houses is a good book. It has several interesting and engaging plotline which revolving around and fairly wide range of different characters, however, some of the different plots more interesting than others, which meant that sometimes I felt a little bit irritated when the narrating character changed. The book was highly realistic and proved and interesting look into Alaska in the 1970s, which was something I did not know much about. The ending, however, was a bit of a let down, as the plots all tied together a little too neat and tidy, and the tone was a little too happy, which seemed out of place and unrealistic, in a very realistic book, which dealt with the struggle and hardships of an Alaskan community.

  4. This is an excellent book. It cleverly interweaves the stories of different characters and there lives. It uses realistic situations to make stories worth reading. I thoroughly enjoyed learning how different people feel in different situations. A brilliant read.

I loved the book, it was interesting and exciting, and it is split into four different views, the views of Ruth, Dora, Alyce and Hank. this was good because you could understand what was going on at the same time from four different perspectives, and places, and when the characters may have been in the same place, you can understand how they all feel about what was going on. I loved this book and would definitely recommend it to other readers.

  6. I loved this book and couldn’t stop turning the page I loved all the characters. I loved it because of all the cliff hangers making you read on and how each chapter was another persons perspective. I enjoy reading this book because it shows how our world is such a small world where we could easily become involved in each other’s lives by the smallest action or gesture or even just seeing them in the street.

  8. I enjoy reading this book because it shows how our world is such a small world where we could easily become involved in each other’s lives by the smallest action or gesture or even just seeing them in the street. I also find this book a little bit confusing because the chapters are a bit short, so when you have got used to and understand one person’s point of view on their life, it suddenly changes to the next person. I also like how each person has a very different character and personality like as Ruth wants to be invisible but Dora is the exact opposite of her – she wants to be noticed for something more. I haven’t finished reading this book yet but all the cliffhangers have hooked me into the plot of this book and I hope to discover how everything fits together like a puzzle at the end.

  9. I love this book because it shows everyone’s perspective of the story. Every chapter is a new world to me! I love how the chapters are set out and how the writer describes everything that is happening. I think this book is for anyone who likes excitement and cliffhangers. I haven’t been able to finish this book but I can’t wait to finish it to see how everything matches together …!

  10. This was a surprising story. I liked the structure and style of the writing – each chapter written from the perspective of the different characters. It was interesting setting in Alaska with the debate of independence with the USA. An interesting read, I would recommend it.

  11. I love this book because it showed each chapter from another character’s perspective and if the last chapter was a cliff hanger it would hook you into your book. I also loved the way the characters all got entangled into each others lives in different ways and it was all very entertaining. I enjoyed this book particularly because of the cliff hangers and the enjoyment!
