I am really enjoying the latest Bill Bryson. Having read nearly all his previous books I doubted that he could find anything new to say about the British Isles. However, his stream of humorous observations and witty comments keep coming. Like his other books, this one is also interspersed with some interesting facts about the country – for example, did you know that George Everest (who has a mountain named after him !) was buried in Hove on the south coast. This book is just the tonic I needed to brighten the long post-Christmas winter evenings.
