  1. this book was one of the best written books I have ever read. It sucked you into the character’s world fluidly. It left you feeling slightly raw, with strong emotions. The book has a nice combination of the “diary excerpts”-interesting, complex ideas and the main narrative, all neatly tied together. My favourite character was Benjamin, because he felt very real and young.

  2. She is not Invisible by Marcus Sedgwick

When Laureth gets an email saying that a man in New York has her dads notebook, she begins to get worried that he is missing. He hasn’t texted her in days, and he’s meant to be touring Europe, finding inspiration for his book. So she decides to kidnap her younger brother and take him on a journey across the Atlantic to find their father…

This is One Weird Book! I wasn’t quite sure what to think about it. On one hand, it was a good idea, and I liked the characters. Especially Benjamin, Laureth’s younger brother. On the other hand, I thought that the plot was on the slightly unlikely side. And I think that the fact that Micheal is 12 years old was totally uncalled for.

I am going to give it a 6/10
And an age rating of 11+

  3. Now one of my all-time favourite books, She is Not Invisible is a real page-turner. It is a captivating adventure starring Laureth, her younger brother, Benjamin and his toy raven Stan trying to solve the mystery of what happened to their father. Laureth, the main character, is blind giving the plot an unique viewpoint. I also enjoyed the snippets the author has included on coincidences – these make the book all the more riveting. I would definitely recommend this book.

  4. This book was truly moving and in most of it kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved this book even if in some parts it took a while for me to become engaged.

  5. This book truly at times left me dying to continue reading and I found it very engaging. It left great mystery and I really felt connected to the characters. I loved the book over all even if in some parts it took time for it to grab my interest.

  6. The book altogether could be slow in some parts but then would get really engaging and I believe it is a fantastic book to read. After looking back on the book I think it is well written book and has an amazing story line.

  7. As an overall book i found it very engaging and interesting. i liked the message and the power between a blind 16 year old and a seven year old that could destroy all electronics. the story was emotional sometimes and showed how strong the love of a family can be. once again, it is a great book, I’d give it a 9/10

  8. Another great book by Marcus Sedgwick.
Laureth ‘abducts’ her brother, Benjamin and goes on a thrilling journey to New York to find their missing father, an author, on his search for the meaning of coincidence. But their father could be anywhere in America…. How can a blind girl and her younger brother cope ???
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!!!

  9. This book had a very interesting beginning in the way Luareth’s father suddenly disappeared and this gives you a massive kick of curiosity and draws you in. You cant stop reading while the two children take a voyage to America. I look forward to reading the rest.

  10. The book kicks off when Laureth (who is blind, which is the ‘sensational’ idea in the book) takes her younger brother Benjamin and his toy crow Stan with her to New York to search for their missing father. An investigation ensues, with the book picking up pace and then suddenly coming to an almost anti-climactic ending, though still very interesting.
I really enjoyed this book, mainly for the philosophical issues, and would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of reading it!
It is amazing, I cant believe how sad and emotional it is.

    Read it now

  11. This book was great! I have recently read another book by Marcus Sedgwick called ‘The Ghosts of Heaven’ which really intrigued me. I find the philosophical themes of these books fascinating, and ‘She is not Invisible’ is centred around coincidences and their meaning in our world. I can tell the author has really ‘done his homework’- the notes of the father’s little book incorporate philosophers that have actually done work on coincidences.
